Double vs. Triple-Pane Windows: Which Should You Choose?
Pane count is one factor among U-factor, Energy Rating, air leakage, weight, solar gain and installation quality.

Double and triple pane at a glance
Triple glazing adds another pane and insulating cavity, which can improve centre-of-glass comfort and condensation resistance. It also adds weight, depth and cost. Double glazing can remain a sensible choice when the complete ratings and budget fit the opening.
Compare the ratings that change comfort
U-factor relates to heat transfer; Energy Rating combines several measures; air leakage affects drafts; solar heat gain matters by orientation. Compare those values for the exact product rather than choosing by pane count alone.
Where each option can make sense
Triple glazing may be attractive for exposed rooms, cold surfaces or high comfort priorities. Double glazing may suit milder exposures, smaller budgets or openings where weight and frame depth need to remain limited.
